What's new?

When you get the new Arduino Uno R4 boards you will notice a few things right away. For example, the USB-B port has been replaced by a USB-C port. This saves a lot of space and hassle when looking for the right cables. In addition, the well-known ATMEGA328 chip has been replaced by a powerful RA4M1 from Renesas.
Where you at the Uni R3 12V input, that doubles with the Uno R4! So you can now connect 24V to the Arduino Uno R4 boards.
For the advanced users there are also a number of new interesting features. There are DAC, OP AMP, CAN BUS and SWD Connectors available.

Arduino Uno R4 Minimums

De Arduino Uno R4 Minimums is the version most similar to the standard Uno R3. In terms of size, pins and look, it is quite similar to its predecessor. But when you take a closer look, a number of things immediately stand out. First of all the Uno R4 is a lot darker. The standard Arduino color has been replaced by a dark blue to almost black color. But it is much tighter. There are far fewer components visible. The components that are still on it board sitting are a lot smaller. The new RA4M1 chip is not even half the size of the ATMEGA328. You also never have to look for such an old USB-B cable again, because you can now simply connect the Arduino with a USB-C cable. Right on the Minimum board you will find a dozen SWD pins. You can use this for debugging.
In terms of price it is board somewhat cheaper than its predecessor. You have a new one Arduino Uno R4 Minima already for only €21,75

Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi

De Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi is the new expanded version. When you place it next to the R4 Minima, you will see it board look very different. The color is considerably bluer and the board is much more packed with components. Most of the space is used by the 12*8 LED Matrix. The LED Matrix contains 96 red LED lights that can be controlled individually. This allows you to display icons on it. But it is also very useful to display sensor data or status messages, for example. In addition to the LED Matrix, the ESP32 module from ESPRESSIf immediately catches the eye. Thanks to this module you can easily connect your project to the internet. Making the Uno R4 WiFi ideal for IoT projects. On the board There are now also pins to which you can connect an RTC (Real Time Clock) battery. This is very nice for “low power” applications.
Right on it board you will find a Qwiic connector to which you can connect one or more nodes from the Qwiic ecosystem.
In terms of price, the Arduino Uno R4 WiFi with € 29,95 a bit higher than the standard Arduino Uno R4, but you also get a number of features that you would rather not miss.

Arduino Project: DS18B20 Thermometer

In this project you will learn how to make a thermometer with an Arduino. The temperatures that are measured will show you on a seven segment screen. As a sensor we use a DS18B20 temperature sensor. For the seven segment screen we use a...

Arduino project: Machine-learning Color detection

Arduino project: Machine-learning Color detection

In this project we use the color and proximity sensor on the Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense. We also need the new Arduino_KNN library. This library uses Tiny Machine Learning. In this project we will distinguish objects based on ...

Arduino Project: Weather station

Arduino Project: Weather station

In this Arduino project you will learn how to make your own weather station. You do this on the basis of a DHT11 temperature & humidity sensor and an LDR. The temperature, humidity and brightness are displayed on a 16x2 LCD display. This one...
