Which Raspberry Pi cases are there?
There are different types Raspberry Pi cases available. Ranging from simple plastic cases to complex metal cases with heat sinks and fans. The most common materials are plastic and metal. But wooden housings are also available.
There is a very large assortment Raspberry Pi cases available. All with different designs and colors. Some cases are transparent so you can see the Pi and components nicely. Other cases are streamlined with a minimalist design. There are even cases with extra functionalities such as a battery or a screen.
How to choose the right one Raspberry Pi housing?
When choosing a suitable housing for you Raspberry Pi project are a number of factors to consider. First, you need to consider the material from which the case is made. Are you looking for a lightweight and cheaper option? Then a plastic housing might be a good option for you. If you are looking for a durable option with good cooling capacities, a metal case may be the best choice.
Second, you need to consider the design and style of the case. When you get the Raspberry Pi used as a DIY project, a transparent housing can be useful. This way you can see whether all components are properly connected. When you put the Pi in a meter cupboard, you probably want a completely closed housing so that no dust gets in. Do you use the Raspberry Pi in an office environment? Perhaps a minimalist design is best suited.
Third, you need to consider the extra features of the case. In some cases, the case is purely a shell for the Pi. In other cases, the case also offers additional functionalities. For example, there are cases with heat sinks and/or fans. But also with special extensions. A Raspberry Pi case with a heatsink can ensure that the temperature is lowered, which in turn is beneficial for performance.
Raspberry Pi case with heat sink
One of the most popular options is a Raspberry Pi heat sink case. These come in different colors and types. But they all have one thing in common. They have been developed to control the temperature and therefore the performance of the Raspberry Pi to improve. The case is connected to the CPU and other components that get hot. This dissipates the heat to the cooling fins. This form of passive cooling is ideal for all standard uses of the Raspberry Pi. There are also Heatsink cases with fans. This dissipates the heat even better. This is therefore ideal for somewhat heavier processes.
