This is the 74AHCT125 - Quad Level-Shifter (3V to 5V) from Adafruit. This chip makes it possible to connect 3V and 5V devices together safely. Connect the 74AHCT125 to 5V, and it will detect 3V logic correctly. You can also use it to convert 5V logic to 3V logic. For example, if you want to power the 74AHCT125 at 3V. It can safely read 5V logic on the input pins.
