Description Arduino CTC 101 School Kit - Complete

CTC 101 is a modular STEAM program consisting of a toolbox with more than 25 projects and easy-to-assemble experiments, an online platform and support for teachers. CTC 101 (Creative Technologies in the Classroom 101), is a 5 module STEAM program, designed for students from 13 to 17 years old. It is the flagship Arduino Educational program for schools. CTC 101 uses a “project-based” learning method. Students are introduced to the basics of programming, electronics, and mechanics through a series of playful, well-documented projects and easy-to-assemble experiments. CTC 101 is certified by the Finish Kokoa Education Standard ™ which guarantees a high educational value and a robust pedagogical design in worldwide learning.

What does this kit contain?

  • TOOL BOX:Arduino Boards, Shields and components for a class of up to 30 students, and for the teachers to be trained.
  • ONLINE PLATFORM: Access to the Arduino Education Learning Management System with step-by-step instructions and lessons for 26 experiments based on theme modules.
  • SUPPORT: Self-managed training, onboarding webinar and forum overseen by experts from Arduino Education.

Toolbox

More than 700 components and parts!

Six Arduino 101 boards: one of the most powerful Arduino boards for education, including wireless communication (Bluetooth) and an integrated IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). They are programmable, capable of reading inputs (e.g. light on a sensor) and capable of controlling outputs (e.g. activating a motor). Six Arduino Education shields: expansion boards that connect to the Arduino 101 and UNO boards to extend their functionality. The Education Shield is a custom shield, designed by Arduino Education, specifically tailored for educational purposes to help you learn quickly and easily while building projects. More than 10 mini breadboards: used to build circuits more easily. They can be mounted on top of the Education Shield or used individually to connect other components. Set of electronic components: used to create interactive electronic circuits including resistors, potentiometers, LEDs, push buttons, capacitors and diodes. Set of plug and play modules: sensors and actuators that contain the necessary components on board so that they can be connected directly to the Education shield. Modules include a joystick, light and tilt sensors, and an infrared array. Set of sensors and actuators: sensors include light, knock, touch / capacitive and infrared. Actuators include standard and continuous servo motors. Battery pack: contains both 9 V and 1,5 V batteries, and battery holders with 4 and 8 slots. Media and storage: includes webcam, SD card and a speaker. The Education Shield has an SD card reader and an audio connector. Cable set: including all necessary cables, such as USB cables, jumper wires, module cables, battery terminals, crocodile cables and single-wire cables. MDF parts: project construction includes laser cut MDF parts. There are more than 10 different projects that can be built with this set of parts. Storage and sorting boxes: electronic components can be sorted in boxes based on their functions and dimensions. After MDF parts are removed from the frames, they can be stored in the resealable storage bags for later organization. The sorting box with dividers can be used to organize small components.

Platform

Online platform

Any purchase of a CTC 101 includes user access to the online platform. A maximum of 3 teachers will have access, then they will manage student access with a limit of 30 slots per toolbox. See the demo here. The online platform runs on a customized Learning Management System (LMS), this platform helps students get started with programming, electronics and building fully functional, interactive projects with the guidance of teachers. Currently available in English, Spanish, Italian and Catalan. Teachers are given access for students to prepare and customize their lesson plans with more engaging and creative techniques so they can take full advantage of the latest technologies to integrate them into their curriculum. The content and class dynamics are specially designed to improve students' problem solving and group work skills in a collaborative environment.

Student activities

1 module: programming and basic coding. 2 module: introduces Arduino boards and digital signals.
3 module: introduces analog signals and serial communication.
4 module: introduces robotics, power systems and motors.
5 module: introduces wireless communication via Bluetooth and advanced sensors.
Reference section: additional material and exercises for problem solving and further learning.
Educators section: self-managed online training, lesson preparation materials, teacher guides and resources.
In addition, the platform has a:
Reference section: additional material and exercises for problem solving and further learning. At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to prepare and share their own projects and share them with the Arduino Education community. * Note that the duration of the CTC 101 program is flexible and is based on the number of classes students take per week (two to three classes per week are recommended).

CTC 101 support

The Arduino Education team is committed to providing support for educators to solve potential challenges while teaching CTC content. We also advise teachers to guide students through the development of new projects derived from the acquired knowledge in the program.

CTC 101 support includes:

- Dedicated online communication from the Arduino Education team from the beginning: Toolbox purchase advice, online platform access, student enrollment and further questions related to CTC 101 deployment in the classroom.
- An online live webinar walks through the content and tools available in the online platform.
- Five self-administered live webinars with three available booking options per day for teachers to ask questions about teacher education, student projects and/or upcoming challenges during the implementation phase.
- Access to a moderated forum where educators share knowledge and experiences with other educators of the CTC 101 program around the world.
- Training certificate for teachers.
