Description MKR GSM 1400

The Arduino MKR GSM 1400 is designed to provide a practical and cost effective solution for makers looking to add global GSM connectivity to their projects with minimal previous networking experience.
It is based on the Atmel SAMD21 and a SARAU201 GSM module.
The design includes the ability to power the board using a LiPo battery or a 5V external power source.
Switching from one source to another is done automatically.
A good 32-bit computing power comparable to the Zero board, the usual rich set of I / O interfaces, gobal GSM communication and the ease of use of the Arduino Software (IDE) for code development and programming.
All these features make this board the preferred choice for the emerging IoT battery powered projects in a compact form factor.
The USB port can be used to power the board (5V).

During cellular transmissions, the peak current required by the board will exceed 500mA.
This is more than what can be supplied through a standard USB port, so it is MANDATORY to have a LiPo battery of 1500 mAh or higher connected, the power supplied by the USB port is replenished by the battery.
When powering the board with Vin requires a 5V power supply that can supply at least 2A.

Warning: Unlike most Arduino and Genuino boards, the MKR GSM 1400 runs at 3,3V.
The maximum voltage that the I / O pins can tolerate is 3,3 V.
Applying voltages higher than 3,3 V to an I / O pin can damage the card.
Although output to 5V digital devices is possible, bidirectional communication with 5V devices should be moved correctly.

Note: No SIM card is included!
