This is the Autonomous Raspberry Pi Pico Robotics Platform from Kitronik. It is a fun and practical introduction to robotics and the Raspberry Pi Pico.
The easy-to-follow booklet included with the kit will guide you through all the steps needed to operate your robot.The robotics platform is designed to grow with you, offering additional servo and ultrasonic sensor connections for more advanced projects. This buggy requires a Raspberry Pi Pico with pin headers, which is not included, but can be purchased separately.
The kit comes with the chassis of the autonomous robotics platform, 2 wheels and tires, a Kitronik line following sensor board and an ultrasonic sensor. There is no soldering required to get the kit going. There is only minimal mechanical assembly.Attach the tires to the wheels, push the wheels onto the pre-fitted motors and both the line following sensor and ultrasonic distance sensor can be plugged directly into the board. Once assembled, simply push the Raspberry Pi Pico into the connector on the board. Add 4 x AA Alkaline batteries into the holders on the bottom and you are ready to go. Your robot buggy is ready to be programmed.
The included booklet guides you through every step of getting to know your robot. It includes detailed assembly instructions. In addition, you will find information on preparing the Raspberry Pi Pico.The booklet includes instructions for installing an editor (Thonny) and instructions for writing code for every function of the robotics platform. No part of the board is left undiscussed.
In addition to the easy to follow starter guide, online tutorials have also been created. These go into more depth on programming the most important features of the board. Links to the tutorials can be found in the resources section at the bottom of this page.
To make programming the robot as easy as possible, Kitronik has developed a set of Micropython modules. You can find more information about these in the booklet that comes with the kit. If you are not familiar with GIT, there is an online beginner's guide to help you get started.
