Raspberry Pi AI Kit Description

The Raspberry Pi AI Kit includes the Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ with a Hailo AI acceleration module. This kit is designed for use with the Raspberry Pi 5. It offers an affordable and low-power way to integrate powerful AI functionality. This makes it ideal for applications such as process control, security, home automation and robotics. The AI module is rated at 13 tera-operations per second (TOPS). This is thanks to the Hailo-8L chip. The module uses the M.2 2242 form factor. It comes pre-installed in the M.2 HAT+, to which it connects via an M-key edge connector. The M.2 HAT+ provides communication between the M.2 interface of the AI module and the PCIe 2.0 interface of the Raspberry Pi 5. When using an up-to-date Raspberry Pi OS, the host Raspberry Pi 5 will automatically recognize the Hailo module. This makes the NPU available for AI tasks. The built-in rpicam-apps camera applications in Raspberry Pi OS support the AI module and use the NPU for compatible post-processing tasks.
