Description Raspberry Pi ON/OFF SHIM - Micro USB
for many Raspberry Pi users, it is a frustration that there is no On/Off button on the Raspberry Pi sit. Pimoroni's ON/OFF SHIM solves that problem!
The SHIMs (Shove Hardware in the Middle) are small and handy boards to add extra functionalities to your Raspberry Pi. The SHIM's PCB is only 0,8mm thick (excluding mounted components). It is designed to connect to the GPIO pins of the Raspberry Pi to be soldered so you can use them with a (p)HAT on them.
Use case
Connect your Micro USB power supply to the connector of the ON/OFF SHIM then press the button to turn on the power. I Raspberry Pi will boot after this. After installing the software (at the bottom of the page) you can press and hold the button for a second for a clean shutdown.

Software ON/OFF SHIM
We've put together a one-line-installer to install the clean shutdown daemon. It watches the state of BCM pin 17 and, when pulled low (pressed), it initiates a clean shutdown. Last thing, just before your Pi shuts down, BCM pin 4 is pulled low to completely cut power to your Pi.
To install the software, open a terminal and type curl https://get.pimoroni.com/onoffshim | bash to run the one-line-installer.
