Description 5V 1.8A Isolated Output PoE Module - Front Raspberry Pi 3B+ & 4
This is Adafruit's Power Over Ethernet (PoE) module. You can use it to power your project via an Ethernet cable. All you need is this PoE module and access to the middle taps of your Ethernet capable board. Attach the four input wires and get regulated 5V 1,8A on the other side!
This version of the PoE module has a transformer in the middle. This is there so that there is no direct electrical connection between the 5V power/ground and the Ethernet cables.
The module works well with the Raspberry Pi 3B+ and the Pi 4, this one boards have the 4 pin header for the PoE. As you can see in the picture you only need a few F/F Jumper Wires to get the Ethernet wires to the module. then you have two wires to bring the 5V back to the header. Please note that while a 2,5A power supply is recommended for a Pi 3B+ / 4B it is only required when used with accessories. 1,8A will cover a wide range of usage, if the current Draw is about 0,7a max with no extras.
