A push button is a button and a switch, but these LED-lit arcade buttons belong to a class of their own.
It is similar in size to an arcade button (and fits in holes drilled for 30mm 'standard' buttons), but has a built-in LED that can be controlled separately from the switch action - to indicate or simply to look good.

The body is made of black plastic and fits a lamp holder. These were originally designed for 'light bulbs' but are easy to use with an LED, just wrap the legs around the holder as shown. It comes with a bright blue LED, but honestly we recommend finding a diffuse LED instead, with a wide illumination, as this bright one doesn't fill the square as nicely as it could. (The button factory did not have diffuse LEDs available).
You can even disassemble the button yourself and slide an image under the transparent cover for backlighting.

The button is supplied with a '' normally open '' microswitch.
Once you've placed the desired LED, just click the microswitch. You can always remove it later to change the LED color.
The micro switch is fairly clicky, so you will hear and feel it when it activates.

The LED inside is just a solid blue LED with a forward voltage of about ~ 3.5V.
A series resistor for LED is required so you don't blow up the LED - we recommend starting with 1Kohm.
The LED is quite simple, we recommend replacing it with a diffuse LED of your choice.
