Description USB to TTL cable - CP2102

The USB to TTL cable is the easiest way to connect to the serial console port of eg a microcontroller or micro Raspberry Pi. The USB connector contains a USB <-> serial conversion chip. There are four wires at the end of the cable. Red for power, black for ground, white for RX in and green for TX out. The power pin provides 5V at 500mA directly from the USB port. The RX/TX pins are 3,3V for interfacing with most common chipsets.
Thanks to the loose pin plugs, the USB to TTL cable is ideal for connecting and connecting to the debug / login console on a.o.. of Raspberry Pi. You connect the pins as shown to power the Pi and set up the RX/TX link.

When using Linux, drivers are already included in the kernel, no need to install anything!
Also useful for hacking WiFi routers to install alternate OSs or almost any other 3.3V logic serial port. This is easier to use than an FTDI cable in many cases because the wires are separate. Keep in mind that this is called a "TTL cable", but technically it is CMOS logic.
